Crystallized Waterproofing Material Crystallize
Crystalline Waterproofing: A Permanent and Definitive Solution for Concrete Crystalline waterproofing is an extremely effective and long-lasting insulation technology that penetrates deep into the capillary (hairline) voids of concrete, forming insoluble crystals through a chemical reaction. This innovative structure becomes an integral part of the concrete surface where it is applied, completely blocking water passage by sealing pores and micro-cracks from the inside. When applied from the negative side (opposite to the direction of water flow), it renders the concrete completely waterproof, maximizing the lifespan of structures.

CRYSTALLIZE Cement-Based Crystalline Waterproofing Mortar

It is a cement-based, single-component crystalline waterproofing material that provides full resistance against both negative and positive water pressure. By deeply penetrating the capillary voids of concrete and cement-based surfaces, it reacts with water to form insoluble crystals. As these crystals gain volume, they plug the concrete from the inside, providing definitive and permanent waterproofing.

Advantages of the System

  • Practical Application: It has an easily applicable structure, saving significant labor and time.
  • Active and Permanent Protection: It transfers into capillary voids and micro-cracks on cement-based surfaces, rendering the concrete mass permanently impermeable to water.
  • Holistic Insulation: It creates a seamless and jointless coating; it can be safely used on both horizontal and vertical surfaces.
  • Two-Way Resistance: It shows high resistance against both negative (opposite the direction of water flow) and positive (direction of water flow) water pressure.
  • Rebar-Friendly: Since it does not contain chlorides or corrosive substances, it does not cause corrosion (rusting) in the steel reinforcement within the reinforced concrete.

Main Application Areas

It is safely used in all cement-based structural elements. Main areas of use include:

  • Waterproofing of foundation and retaining concrete walls,
  • Basements and underground structures,
  • Tunnels, elevator pits, and shaft openings.

Application Instructions and Surface Preparation

Surface Preparation

The application surface must absolutely be clean, sound, and load-bearing. Any dust, dirt, and weak layers that will reduce adhesion must be completely removed. Deep cracks, voids, and weak areas on the surface must be repaired using DRYFIX TRACK R2 repair mortar at least 24 hours prior to the waterproofing application.

Preparation of the Mixture

The 25 kg powdered product should be slowly added into 7.00 - 8.00 liters of clean water. The mixture must be mixed using a low-speed mixer until a lump-free, homogeneous consistency is achieved (approximately 2-3 minutes). This prepared mixture should be left to rest for 1-2 minutes and then mixed for another 30 seconds to become ready for application.

Application Method

The prepared homogeneous mixture should be applied in at least 2 coats using a brush or trowel onto the pre-dampened surface. To ensure uninterrupted insulation, each coat must be applied in a direction perpendicular (crosswise) to the application direction of the previous coat.

The waiting time between coats is a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 12 hours, depending on ambient conditions. If more than 12 hours have passed for the application of the next coat, the surface must definitely be re-dampened before proceeding to the new coat.

Important Application Warnings

  • Water must absolutely not be added again to mortar that has started to harden, set, or dry.
  • Application should be avoided on frozen surfaces, in situations where frost is expected within 24 hours, in areas exposed to extreme wind, and on hot surfaces heated under direct sunlight.
  • Extra water beyond the specified ratio or any foreign materials (cement, sand, etc.) must never be added to the prepared mixture.
  • Surfaces applied with DryFiX CRYSTALLIZE must be protected from strong air currents, frost, and direct sunlight for at least 24 hours after application.
  • All tools and equipment used during the application must be cleaned by washing with water immediately before the mortar on them dries.

Consumption, Packaging, and Storage

Consumption: To achieve a 2 mm application thickness, an average of 2.00 – 2.50 kg/m² of product should be used.
