Water Tank Waterproofing Material – DF Pur WT 2K
Selecting the appropriate insulation system is a critical step to extend the structural lifespan of water tanks—where we safely store our drinking water—and to maintain water quality at the highest standards. Today, next-generation waterproofing technologies are replacing traditional methods, offering long-lasting flexibility and zero chemical reaction upon contact with water. Formulated specifically for potable water reservoirs, DF Pur WT 2K definitively prevents harmful substances from mixing into your water supply. By inhibiting the formation of bacteria, algae, or unwanted moisture inside the tank, it ensures the water remains in its purest and cleanest state.
What Are the Core Advantages?
- Demonstrates outstanding thermal resistance across a broad temperature range from -40°C to +90°C.
- Features a solvent-free formulation, making it highly sensitive to human health and the environment.
- Adheres flawlessly to applied substrates (high adhesion strength).
- Perfectly safe and suitable for application in enclosed or narrow spaces.
- Provides top-tier protection and effective resistance against various chemical agents.
- Thanks to its thixotropic nature, it does not sag or run when applied to vertical surfaces.
Where Is It Used?
- Reinforced concrete water reservoirs and large-capacity water storage tanks.
- Storage units manufactured from steel, galvanized metal, or other metallic alloys.
- All indoor and outdoor surfaces that come into direct contact with potable water.
Step-by-Step Application Guide
- Surface Preparation: For a flawless waterproofing application, the surface must be completely cleared of oil, grease, paraffin, mold-release chemicals, and fuel residues. Loose particles, cement laitance, sawdust, and old membrane remnants must be entirely removed; if possible, a high-pressure water washer should be used to achieve the optimal clean surface.
- Priming Phase: Following surface preparation, the use of DryFiX DFC-100 Epoxy Primer is strongly recommended to maximize the system's grip on the floor.
- Preparing the Mixture: Components A and B must be mixed using a low-speed mixer for a minimum of 2-3 minutes until a completely homogeneous consistency is achieved. At an ambient temperature of +20°C, the pot life (working time) of this mixture is 20-30 minutes. Note that this duration may shorten or extend depending on seasonal temperature variations.
- Surface Application: Pour the prepared mixture onto the pre-primed substrate and spread it evenly across the entire area using a roller or brush. It must be applied in a minimum of two coats on both vertical and horizontal surfaces. After applying the first coat, you must wait at least 8 hours, and a maximum of 24 hours, before proceeding with the second coat.
Safety Warnings and Recommendations
- Flammable and combustible materials must be kept completely away from the work environment during the procedure, and smoking is strictly prohibited.
- A continuous and robust ventilation system must be kept active in enclosed spaces (such as the interior of the tank).
- The use of protective work gloves and safety goggles is mandatory.
- In the event of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical support by consulting the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
- Keep securely out of reach of children; the product should only be applied by professional teams referencing the official technical documentation.
