DryFiX DFC-300: Professional Application Instructions and Site Procedures
1. Substrate Condition and Surface Preparation
The most critical step in achieving perfect and permanent adhesion is surface preparation. The concrete floor to be coated must be completely freed from any oil, grease, dust, cement laitance, old paint residues, frost, and loose particles that could weaken adhesion. Surface preparation must be carried out mechanically using professional grinding machines, scarifying, or shot-blasting methods, and the resulting dust must be extracted using industrial vacuum cleaners.
2. Component Integration (Mixing Preparation)
DryFiX DFC-300 is a two-component system formulated in precise ratios. After Component A (Resin) is briefly stirred within itself, the entire Component B (Hardener) must be added into Component A.
- Critical Rule: The mixing ratio (5:1 by weight) must absolutely not be altered. It must be mixed for at least 3-4 minutes using a low-speed epoxy mixer (300-400 rpm), taking care not to entrain air bubbles, until a homogeneous and smooth consistency is achieved. Once mixing is complete, the product must be applied to the surface without delay (paying strict attention to the pot life).
3. Primer Layer and Self-Leveling Coating System
- Priming Process: The floor must be primed before proceeding with the DFC-300 application. On standard floors, the surface should be saturated using DryFiX DFC-100 Solvent-Free Epoxy Primer. In specific cases where substrate moisture is high (above 4%), the moisture-tolerant DryFiX DFC-108 primer should be preferred. Depending on the absorbency of the surface, the priming process should continue coat upon coat until the floor reaches full saturation.
- Coating Phase: The DFC-300 application begins 24 hours after the priming process (when the primer has reached touch-dry status but before full cure). The prepared homogeneous mixture is spread evenly and seamlessly over the surface using a selected steel notched trowel (typically with 1 mm or 2 mm notch spacing) depending on the desired dry film thickness. Immediately after the spreading process is completed, the entire surface must be carefully rolled with a spiked roller to release any entrapped air from the epoxy film and ensure a flawless, smooth finish.
4. Critical Site Conditions and Concrete Tolerances
- Mechanical Values: The concrete floor to be epoxy-coated must have a minimum compressive strength of 25 N/mm² and a minimum surface pull-off strength of 1.5 N/mm².
- Climatic Conditions: Application must be strictly avoided when the ambient and surface temperatures are below +10°C or when relative humidity is excessively high.
- Negative Water Pressure Risk: Even after the product has fully cured, negative-side pressurized moisture or water leakage originating from the building's foundation or soil can push beneath the epoxy primer and coating, causing the system to detach from the surface (blistering). On such high-risk floors, foundational waterproofing measures must be taken prior to coating.
5. HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Procedures

- Ensure the area is well-ventilated during application.
- Skin and eye contact with uncured epoxy resin must be strictly prevented; it must not be inhaled or swallowed.
- Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety goggles, and masks must be used during work.
- Refer to the product's Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for detailed safety instructions, fire and explosion hazard warnings, and first aid procedures. To prevent environmental pollution, packaging waste must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
6. Logistics and Storage Standards
- Product packaging must be protected from direct sunlight, rain, extreme heat, and frost.
- It must be stored in enclosed, dry, and well-ventilated warehouses at temperatures between +5°C and +25°C.
- The shelf life is 1 year (12 months) from the date of manufacture when kept in its original, unopened, and undamaged packaging. Since the components in opened packages will react upon contact with air, they must be consumed within a short period
